INDUSTRY FACING MAJOR CHANGE IN SIZE, STRUCTURE

London, February 11, 2009:  The air transport industry is facing major change in terms of size and structure as a result of economic downturn, according to leading independent aviation analyst and Nyras Senior Associate, Chris Tarry.

Addressing the Aviation Club of the UK’s opening luncheon of 2009, Chris warned that the situation was likely to get worse before any improvement could be foreseen.

“For many in the industry, these are clearly already difficult times and the fear is that it is going to get considerably tougher before it gets easier.
“It is reasonable to conclude that the industry is likely to emerge into the upturn in a different size and shape. I would suggest that while, on the one hand, there are significant challenges ahead, the nature of the rapidly-changing environment we are now in provides significant opportunities on the other,” Chris stated.
