FORMER EASYJET CHIEF JOINS NYRAS


London, December 22, 2008: Andrew Barker, the former easyJet senior executive and top aviation analyst, has joined Nyras, the aviation consultancy and investment management company, as a Senior Associate.

Before joining easyJet four years ago, he had been with UBS Investment Bank.

Announcing the new appointment, Nyras Chief Executive, Richard Davey, said: “We are extremely pleased to welcome Andrew to our team. His expertise and experience at senior levels in both the investment banking and airline operating sectors will be of significant value to Nyras and its clients.  Andrew will join me in further developing the investment side of our business and in leading a number of major projects.”

Andrew was a senior executive with easyJet between January 2005 and August, 2008. He was recruited initially as Head of Investor Relations & Financial Strategy before being promoted to Director of Planning Strategy & Government Affairs a year later. In this key post, Andrew was responsible for easyJet’s network and fleet planning, as well as the development of environmental and aeropolitical policies.
  He had been previously well-known as a prominent air transport analyst over a 16-year career with UBS Investment Bank. As Head of the UBS Global Transport Research Team he worked as lead manager on a total of 11 aviation industry privatisations and IPOs. Andrew was also a UBS managing director.  

He is a graduate of Oxford University where he read Oriental Studies. Andrew is fluent in Japanese.

In his new post, Andrew is based at the Nyras headquarters in central London.
