Aeronautical Adviser to Seven West Midland District Councils

The seven West Midland District Councils have appointed Sir Mike Hodgkinson, former BAA plc Chief Executive to provide aeronautical advice in relation to their 49% shareholding in Birmingham International Airport.


This appointment is initially for a 12 month period to enable the seven West Midland Districts to achieve their objectives for Birmingham Airport which include:

-    the continual development of the Airport with the timely provision of new facilities to a high standard for both passengers and airlines. In particular the extension of the main runway by 2012 together with associated infrastructure.
-    The continued development of route and airline networks to serve the Midlands business and leisure travel needs.

Sir Mike Hodgkinson is a Senior Associate at Nyras, the air transport consultancy and investment company.

The seven West Midlands Councils involved are: Birmingham City Council; Council of the City of Coventry; Borough Council of Dudley; Borough Council of Sandwell; Metropolitan Borough of Solihull; Walsall Metropolitan Borough Council; and Wolverhampton City Council.
