Andrew Barker,  Senior Associate

Former Director of Planning, Strategy and Government Affairs with easyJet, Andrew Barker was appointed a Senior Associate of Nyras in December, 2008.

Before joining easyJet, Andrew had already achieved industry prominence as a top air transport analyst over his 16-year career with UBS Investment Bank.

As Head of the UBS Global Transport Research Team, he was consistently rated ‘number one’ airline analyst in the industry’s annual Institutional Investor survey. Andrew served as lead manager for UBS in eleven industry privatisations and IPOs, including those of Qantas, Finnair, Lufthansa, Amadeus and Galileo. He went on to head the UBS European Equity Strategy Team and was also appointed a UBS managing director.

Andrew was recruited by easyJet in January, 2005, as Head of Investor Relations & Financial Strategy. He was promoted a year later to the post of Director of Planning, Strategy & Government Affairs, responsible for network and fleet planning, as well as the development of environmental and aeropolitical policies. Andrew and his team produced easyJet’s customer, competitor and market catchment analyses which formed the basis of the airline’s business development strategies. He also managed a regulatory team which participated in UK Parliamentary, Civil Aviation Authority and Office of Fair Trading reviews of airport regulation. Andrew’s team represented easyJet on the user councils of Gatwick and Stansted airports; and he served on the European Low Fare Airlines Association executive committee. He was a member of easyJet’s Management Board and a Director of easyJet Airline Company Limited.

Andrew graduated in Oriental Studies from Oxford University and is fluent in Japanese.
