Nyras Supports London’s Air Ambulance 12th October 2009
London, October 12, 2009: Nyras this week pledged its support to the vital London’s Air Ambulance service as a corporate donor.
As an initial commitment, the company has donated funds to provide the capital’s helicopter emergency service with fuel for seven days of operation. According to London’s Air Ambulance, this could potentially save around 35 lives.
Nyras Chief Executive, Richard Davey, said: “London’s Air Ambulance represents a very special way in which our industry of aviation can provide essential, life-saving services to the community. We are pleased to support this vital work and hope that others in the industry will be encouraged to join us.”
London’s Air Ambulance, based at the Royal London Hospital in Whitechapel, is now in its 21st year of operation and has undertaken more than 21,000 missions. The service’s helicopter and rapid-response cars always carry a senior trauma doctor and paramedic able to respond within two minutes of a call being accepted. This means that patients’ treatment begins at the scene of the incident within minutes, thereby increasing dramatically their chances of recovery or survival.
Although substantial funding is provided by the National Health Service and the Virgin Group, further charitable donations are essential to ensure continued operations.
